graphite is abrasive, y it need sharp, hard and abrasion resistant tools to machine it for machinning process?

please give me explanations.thx

Tools actually are expensive because they are made hard to resist deforming and abrasion for a long time of usage and keeping its precision as sharp as possible, or as close as it gets to as they exit from the factory.

Graphite is not quite abrasive in all conditions. There’s need for some conditions to fulfill for graphite to be truly abrasive. For instance when immersed in very low temperature liquids YES, GRAPHITE is becoming ABRASIVE as sand.

Also there are a lot of kinds of graphite made with the help of some polymers take for instance the hardness of the pencils tips. For an old school drawing engineer is very well known that there’s from H1 to HB as medium hardness and finally to G12 increasing hardness of the pencils tips.

The softest of this forms are used as SOLID LUBRICANT, for extremely hard pressure on some machine parts, just like molybdenum bisulfate.

Not to forget taking into account that the graphite is actually a softer form of the Carbon element which has also the hardest of the forms - the Diamond (especially the C60 arrangement, beats in hardness all of the elements found on earth). Not to mention that the Graphite is actually CRYSTALLINE which makes it quite abrasive just for that.

And to be more complete in my answer there’s no material in this world for being machined with "soft" tools. Take for instance the chalk or whatever you want. There’s always an abrasion of the machining tool after a while.

Now that’s why you need hard and abrasion resistant tools for machining it.

Hope that helped

i can’t find the microsoft virtual machine in the advance tab in tools to verify my address in friendster?

i click tab then internet option then advance when u scroll down i can’t find the microsoft virtual machine

If the "Microsoft VM" refers to the Microsoft Java VM that was used approximately 8 years ago, you will indeed find that this VM is no longer available. Microsoft wrote its own Java VM that ran much faster than SUN’s on WIndows, and Microsoft was promptly sued and had to (1) pay lots of money and (2) remove its Java VM from every Windows OS.

Download SUN’s Java VM and you should be fine. The current Java VM for Windows from SUN is pretty good, compared to what was available 10 years ago.

what machine/tool/process could best achieve this job?

i want to ground up a dozen bags full of various chinese herbs and plant matter into a fairly fine powder. Obviously I don’t want to take all week doing it in a cuisinart or small blender. I’ve looked into leaf shredders but think it might not be fine enough. Though I don’t want to spend a thousand dollars on something. Ideal would be some addaptation I couldmake to a power tool or some common gardening tool, something I could rent.

You might want to look into buying a second hand disintegrator or hammer mill used for pulverizing paper. You might be able to find these in government liquidation auctions.

I would like to know what the average weight is for an average machine in a machine tool shop?

Know this is difficult - I was thinking of a CNC lathe or something like it - would it be one ton, two? I need to calculate shipping based on weight - I can visualise the size but not weight

I’m a CNC machinist, hard to say an average, depending on lathe or mill, big or small, I run mazak quik turns, which i think are about 3000 pounds.
I’ve worked on other lathes that were in the 5000 & 6000 range.
I’ve also worked on mills that were 10 - 15000 pounds.
If you know the make and model of the machine, maybe do a google search for the mfg. and check their dimensions and weight.
