I’ve been an Industrial / Transportation designer at Ford Motor Company for nineteen years. Industrial design takes a certain kind of person, a person not only excited by the process of creativity, sketching and rendering, but also about bringing tangible products to market. An Industrial designer’s deliverable is not the great looking sketch, it’s the appropriate "design" for the market. For the creative type who is attracted to "art" more than "design", Industrial Design might not have a lasting appeal. A lot of design has to do with "feasibility", making sure a design is producable at an affordable cost. A lot meetings, verbal communication, and yes, even politics come between a designer and his sketch pad. (or stylus) In the end it’s all worth for those who live to "make" great products, not just "draw" them. Having said all of that, it’s a great lifestyle!

can you become an interior designer if you have studied industrial design?
Industrial design is really not similar to interior design, you should take interior design classes if you are really interested in becoming an interior designer.

I will e-mail you everyday
i think my cap asc gets confused by the way you write isabelle :s too much data to process :p
Industrial Designers are a cross between a mechanical engineer and an artist. This type studies both function and form, but do not design the gears or motors that make machines move etc….
As a programmer, I used to write software for German mechaical engineers. As for myself, I am a commercial designer, self-employed and hired for my services on the other side of the border.

Jonathan Ive Industrial Designer?
Why do you like his style ?
Most famous for Ipod Imac Iphone designs
I like it because it is clean and simple and effective - now everyone and their grandmother is trying to copy Apple.
Also for the record it is iPod, iPhone, iPod touch - the "i" in lower case stands for "internet" - well it did for the original G3 iMac.
Jonny Ive is also a perfectionist - much like Steve Jobs.

I’m going to be an industrial designer…?
what sort of engineering courses should I take in college?
What you take in college depends on what your college offers and requires. Talk to someone at your specific college, preferably someone in your department, to advise you. Either that, or look at your college’s course catalog.
Good luck!
