How do I successfully explain an illegal discharge from my last position on my resume?

My employer discharged me while on medical leave and after filing worker’s comp., saying it was was related to a poor review, (the only one in ever and designed to make me look bad and a non-employee witness was in the room. What was that?), and not getting reports done on time (my staff had been let go and I was doing several peoples jobs beside my own). A newly hired supervisor asked me what improvements I had made but did not discuss anything with me. I was not on probation. After going on medical leave she let me go without any discussion. I received a letter in the mail. I believe that due to my position in management overlapping hers and because I was much more experienced than her, she wanted me out of the way. I have filed a retaliation, discrimination and back wages complaint with the State Dept of Industrial Relations. Now that I am looking for work, I don’t know how to state this tactfully or to my benefit without seeming like I am bad mouthing them.

Companies have become very aware of potential lawsuits in this area. For this reason they will generally only confirm that you were in fact employed during that timeframe.

All you need to state on your resume, is that you seperated while on medical leave. If you choose you may also tell them during interviews that you no longer felt you had enough support to perform your duties, as a result of your staff being released.

But don’t tell them, before you are hired (and probably not after) about the rest.

I go to Academy of Art, Im an illustration major, but I know that the online curriculum is the exact same as the onsite curriculum. The degree from Academy of Art will be just as valuable if you take the online approach. My advise to someone going into industrial design is if you dont know what emphasis you want to go into now (toys, cars, packaging, products, ect.) dont sweat it right away. The university will start you with foundations courses meant to help you master all of the basic and important skills it takes to be a succesful designer, so you have a little time to be thinking about it then. As far as what jobs you can get, I dont know the specifics for you major off the top of my head, but do check out the website and call the school to talk to an admissions counselor. I really love this school. The education you will recieve here is world class. Good luck!

should a brow piercing be considered a violation to dress code for a teacher in a prison?

I was hired with my piercings which are very discrete. One has to get up close to even see them. I have nose piercings. I also have red dreads for that matter. I have an native american and Affrican heritage and rituals and ancestors to honor. I have stretched lobes size 0 and an industrial and rook in one ear. They are very favorably profiled. I have variest accredidations and a masters degree and working on a PhD in Bus. Org and Management leadership, and an Administration credential in Ed.. I also design clothes. But after raising children alone I felt I should at least teach a few years some where full time. After several odd jobs and sub teaching or over two decades and sitting on boards of education committees. I dress professionally better than most.My plans are to teach etiquette and protocol to a number of venues, to bring back civility. I’ve got a few good years left to share my wealth of knowledge. I believe in positive change. My jewelry is my choice.

If you were hired with your piercings I can’t see why you should take them out. At the interview they saw your appearance and decided that you were their best applicant so go to work hold your head high and be proud of the way you look.

is industrial automation is a good career option?

i mean process, instrumentation jobs in designing and commissionig

OH YES! Very good. They pay very well. I am a plant engineer and have worked in the power industry for 15 years. I watch these guys work all the time and I see the budgets. It is incredible what this industry pays for automation and instrumentation. The job it self is good too. The only question you have to ask yourself is , Do you like the industrial environment and chances are most places require travel. I personally am the person who uses the instruments and automation. We can not live with out. Extreme need for these people right now. I run eight power plants that are automated…..good stuff!

Who is an industrial designer? PLZ ANSWER!!!!?

Do you like your job?
Where did you go to school?
Degree or Certificate?
What Are Some schools that offer industrial design… Plz note that i dont mean any other design just industrial design every time i say that someone gives me graphic design or school that doesnt offer it. so industrial design schools only plz..
itt tech i have already looked into and they have no industrial design program or anything sooooooooooooooo i did count it out. iv been sent all these schools that have design here in texas and none of them have INDUSTRIAL DESIGN and its a bit frustrating

Most poly-technic schools offer courses in industrial design. Graphic design is primarily for advertising, industrial design is primarily for machinery and business production plants. You need to also take courses in higher math, engineering, and computer classes that teach autoCAD. Schools like California Polytechnic in Pomona, CA and Cal-Tech in Los Angeles, CA are good places to start asking questions. If it is difficult to get into a 4-year school right away you can get a lot of general ed courses at a community college that transfer to a university such as Math A and English 1, History, Biology and Computer graphics design, and for cheaper, too. Then when you transfer to a 4-year university that offers industrial design you don’t have to take those classes there.
Ask your high school or college counselor about poly-technic schools or colleges in your area. ITT Tech is also a good school to look into, so don’t count it out.
Good luck.

What can I do with a Masters Degree In Industrial Management Technology?

I have a B.S in Comp Sci, but with the way things are now in the tech industry and jobs being shiped out i am considering a master degree. I was initially considering going for a second b.s in Information Systems because it gives me some business background also but i think to really stay ahead now a masters in most likely better. I came across this program and still doing more search on it Industrial Managment or Industrial Technology with a Management and quality control concentration. it basically combines management skill with technical skills such as stat quality control, project management, engineering cost analysis, industrial psychology, prob & stat, design of experiments and get to take 3-4 MBA corses also. It is very interesting but not sure as to what i can do with it or if it is only tailored to manufacturing enviroment only?

I am a licensed Professional Engineer, sitting in a room with a CPA and a person with a Bachelors, two-Masters, and a PhD. None of us have a clue.
